Recently, Sadig Gachayev, a doctoral candidate at the School of Public Administration of YSU and a recipient of Chinese Government Scholarship, published a signed commentary titled “China-Azerbaijan Relations: A Model of Strategic Partnership” on AzərTAc, an official news agency under the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan. In the article, Sadig noted that during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to China on April 23, the two sides signed the “Joint Statement on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Azerbaijan” in Beijing. This important political document marks a significant elevation of bilateral relations to a new level. He emphasized that the partnership covers a wide range of areas, including political mutual trust, economic coordination, people-to-people exchanges, and technological collaboration. In particular, under the BRI framework, the two sides will focus on key areas such as infrastructure connectivity, renewable energy development, and digital economy, thereby promoting deeper alignment of their development strategies.

Sadig’s article reflects his strong appreciation for China’s development path and culture. In conclusion, he stated that as a young scholar who has witnessed China’s progress firsthand, he sees the BRI as more than just an economic project - it is a peaceful effort to foster a multipolar world and promote mutual learning among civilizations. He believes that the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Azerbaijan will bring greater benefits to both peoples and contribute Eastern wisdom to global governance through the principles of development-first and win-win cooperation.

As an Azerbaijani scholar who has been studying in China for many years, Sadig Gachayev is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Administration at YSU, following his master’s degree in China. His research focuses on regional cooperation and international development strategies. The published article reflects his long-term observations and expert insights into China-Azerbaijan relations.
