Silesian College of Intelligent Science and Engineering, Yanshan University was approved by Ministry of Education for adding postgraduate education.
This project, through Silesian College of Intelligent Science and Engineering, an international joint-venture learning institution, has added postgraduate education to the existing undergraduate courses, and the number of students will increase from 1,200 to 1,350. The approval of the project marked the improvement of international talent training in both "quality" and "quantity" in Yanshan University, represented a critical step to build the "YSU Paradigm" for the integration of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral education, and symbolized a historic breakthrough to promote the essentially high-quality development of the YSU's international education in pursuit of quality and benefits. Therefore, the project is a milestone in the process of YSU's international schooling.
With the approval by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, Silesian College of Intelligent Science and Engineering, Yanshan University will be included in the nationwide postgraduate enrollment plan of Yanshan University since 2024, with an annual enrollment of 50 students for three majors of mechanical engineering, computer technology and materials science. Specifically, 18 students from mechanical engineering, 16 students from computer technology, and 16 students from materials science will be enrolled, and a total of 150 students will be admitted for three years. The postgraduate education is provided in a "3+0" double degree training mode, which means students who have studied in Yanshan University for three years, obtained all credits required by the Sino-foreign joint training plan, and met the graduation requirements and degree awarding conditions will be conferred the postgraduate diploma and Master's Degree Certificate by Yanshan University and the Master's Degree Certificate by Silesian University of Technology, Poland.
The approval for Silesian College of Intelligent Science and Engineering for offering postgraduate education signified the third cooperation node between Yanshan University and Silesian University of Technology, and also a continuous major breakthrough in international school running and Sino-foreign cooperative training. The first cooperation between the two universities happened in 2021, when Yanshan University European Institute was approved to be established and began to enroll undergraduates; the second cooperation came in the next year, 2022, when Silesian College of Intelligent Science and Engineering was founded and began to enroll undergraduates. In the third cooperation, Silesian College of Intelligent Science and Engineering has been allowed to educate postgraduate students, which represented a significant step and innovative practice for Yanshan University towards the goal of developing into a “domestically first-class and world renowned research-type university with distinct features” through upholding Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, implementing the General Policy of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Opening up Education to the Outside World, and actively observing the Opinions on Accelerating and Expanding the Opening up of Education to the Outside World in the New Era jointly released by eight ministries and commissions (e.g., Ministry of Education). It will bring about profound influence on enhancing YSU’s comprehensive capabilities and further opening-up to the outside world.
