Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology recently released the list of a new batch of "Academician Workstations in Hebei Province", and Yanshan University was selected. This is the first time that the university has been approved to set up a foreign academician workstation.

Building foreign academician workstations is an important part of the university's working mechanism of introducing high-end foreign experts. It aims to achieve the goal of "introducing an academician, bringing in a team, cooperating with a university and launching a number of projects". The workstation will help promote organized, institutionalized and long-effective international scientific research cooperation. The approved workstation for foreign academicians is based on the smooth cooperation between the School of Mechanical Engineering of Yanshan University, Professor Marian Wiercigroch, an internationally renowned nonlinear dynamic expert and academician of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, UK, and Professor Tomasz Kapitaniak, an academician of both the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Academia Europaea. The workstation will further develop applied dynamics research and be dedicated to international cooperation in scientific research and teaching.

In recent years, Yanshan University has been attaching great importance to international scientific research cooperation and innovation, vigorously strengthening the resources of high-end foreign experts, focusing on substantive cooperation with the world's top experts, and providing talent and intellectual support for discipline development. The approval of the foreign academician workstation will set up a higher-level academic exchange platform for discipline development, which will facilitate the university in introducing more high-end foreign experts and improving the internationalization of the faculty, thus better serving China's strategic layout of building a globally important talent center and a new innovation highland.
