On December 10, the 6th "Belt and Road" International Youth Forum and "Belt and Road Initiative" University Alliance Forum was opened at Lanzhou University. Yanshan University (YSU) was invited to participate in this online meeting, and President Zhao Dingxuan attended the online signing ceremony.

This forum was hosted by the Chinese Embassy in South Korea, the "Belt and Road" Research Institute of South Korea, the Korea-China Cultural Friendship Association, the Department of Education of Gansu Province, the Foreign Affairs Office of the People' Government of Gansu Province, and the Gansu Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and co-organized by Lanzhou University, and alliance universities inside and outside Gansu Province.
Experts and scholars from more than 60 domestic and foreign universities such as Peking University, Hokkaido University in Japan, University of Sydney in Australia, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, and nearly 200 young representatives from all over the world gathered in the cloud for dialogue with the focus on "ecological protection and global cooperation" and "opportunities and challenges of educational cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative".
YSU joined the "Belt and Road Initiative" University Alliance as a new member. Zhao Dingxuan attended and signed a memorandum of cooperation with President Yan Chunhua of Lanzhou University in the form of a "cloud contract", together with Xiangtan University, Baikal State University in the Russian Federation, Sumy State A.S. Makarenko Pedagogical University in Ukraine, and Mingachevir State University in Azerbaijan.
In the keynote report session of the forum, entrusted by and on behalf of the university, Lu Jun, the director of the Office of International Cooperation, made a theme report at the meeting on "Exploration of International Exchanges in "Belt and Road Initiative" Countries – Open Thinking and Practice of Foreign Education of Yanshan University". In the report, Lu Jun first introduced the general overview of YSU in terms of location advantages, development history, advantageous disciplines, etc., then shared the experience and achievements of the YSU's foreign education during the epidemic period, and advocated that universities should focus on talent training, scientific research, discipline construction, and people-to-people exchanges in the post-epidemic era, expand the opening up of foreign education, implement the "Belt and Road" education initiative, and enable more universities in the "Belt and Road Initiative" countries to share the fruits of development.
It is reported that the "Belt and Road Initiative" International Youth Forum has been successfully held for five sessions. The forum is committed to providing a dialogue platform for young talents and scholars from all over the world to discuss the main topics of the "Belt and Road Initiative", international cooperation and the international community from the unique perspectives of young talents, and to propose reasonable countermeasures.
The "Belt and Road Initiative" University Alliance was initiated by Lanzhou University in 2015, and jointly established by 47 universities from 8 "Belt and Road Initiative" countries and regions in Dunhuang, Gansu, and these universities jointly issued the Dunhuang Consensus. Up to now, there have been 3 professional and regional leagues, and 178 domestic and international colleges and universities in the alliance, covering 27 countries on five continents, and 7 alliance forums have been held.
